This morning we left Rich and Delia's to head to Staten Island to overnight at the Hilton Garden Inn. The hotel provides free parking and free shuttle to the cruise terminal!!!!! What a deal!
We plan to get up to Staten Island fairly early and take the ferry in to Manhattan for the day. I am really looking forward to this. It is over 50 years since I have been back to the city.
We got to the hotel around 9AM and were able to check in to our rooms and catch the 10AM shuttle to the ferry.
It was pretty foggy but the ride was very nice and it's FREE...what could be better! We walked to Ground Zero to visit the 911 Memorial. I'm glad we did it but by the time we got there, it was pretty crowded and HOT. There really isn't much there now. I would like to return when the museum is completed.

We stopped at St. Paul's Chapel to see the displays from 911. Some had been removed because of a church service the night before.
After that, we took the subway up to time Square
Then it was on to our pilgrimage to the "Mecca" of news....
Then it was back to the ferry for our return to Staten Island
All in all, we had a good day....some what stressful but fun. Would like to return some time when we could spend more time.
